Mobile Vet Supporting the Bozeman, Montana Community

Today, we had an opportunity to support a member of our community with our mobile vet clinic. A gentleman called us requesting a house call to examine his sick cat, Tigger. The client is disabled and in a wheelchair, unable to bring Tigger to us. In addition, Tigger tends to be skittish and the owner describes him as a trained Ninja! The owner indicated that he had called 5 other veterinarians in Bozeman, and no one was able or willing to come out to his house.

At 101 PAWS Veterinary Center, we are passionate about supporting our community, and we are grateful to be able to provide our mobile veterinary service in addition to our brick and mortar veterinary clinic. We respect all pets, even Ninja cats—so, we said “Yes! We will come to you!” We gathered some supplies and went on over with our vintage airstream mobile vet exam room. The client was a very kind and interesting gentleman, and the love he has for his cat is evident. The client is on a very tight budget, so running a lot of laboratory tests wasn’t in the cards. To determine the likely cause and create an effective treatment plan, analyzing our findings from the physical exam and gaining as much knowledge as possible on the patient’s history were critical.

Tigger’s symptoms included several months of diarrhea and vomiting, with associated weight loss. Turns out—Tigger seems to like us because he did not put any Ninja moves on display! We were able to handle him and examine him without any restraint—I may be a veterinarian in Bozeman, but I like to think I double as an all around cat whisperer. :) Tigger did not have a noticeable thyroid nodule, had smooth symmetric kidneys, no abdominal masses or pain, and smooth intestinal loops. His temperature was normal.

These physical exam findings suggested that Tigger’s symptoms may be due to a primary intestinal disease, likely Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) or lymphoma. This gave us a place to start in determining appropriate treatment. We prescribed some medication and a medicated intestinal diet, and we will check back in a week to see if symptoms are improving!

It is so important to us to provide care for all pets and support clients however we can. If you have any particular requests or concerns regarding veterinary care, please call us! We would love to chat with you about how best to meet your needs.

We are the friendliest, most accessible Bozeman mobile veterinarian. Stop by to check out our brick and mortar small animal vet clinic in downtown Bozeman!
